Franka Olujic, President
Franka has an MA in Dutch Law from Maastricht University. During her studies she focused on international and European human rights. She has written her thesis on the Prevention of Armed Conflicts by the UN and OSCE in the FYROM. She is the executive director of the Dutch section of the International Commission of Jurists and has many years of experience in advocacy and lobby on human rights issues, especially within the context of the Netherlands.
Jakob de Jonge, Director, Secretary
After his MA Religious Studies Jakob has gained experience in the field of human rights by working for an organization that defends rights of undocumented migrants. He is responsible for the overall management of the organisation. Besides his work for the Hague Peace Projects he is also a professional visual artist.
Nathalie Reijer- van Schagen, Board member and Program advisor
Nathalie currently lives and works in Nairobi, Kenya. She has worked in many conflict and post-conflict areas on peace building and human rights programs for different organizations. She is a specialist in capacity building and advocacy training. Currently she is project manager at the Hague Peace Projects.
Lisanne Boersma, Event manager / PR & Communication
Lisanne graduated from the MA Religion in Modern Societies with a major in Islamic studies at Utrecht University. During her studies and her internships she got more and more interested in human rights. For her master thesis she did research in Indonesia on the role of religion in peace processes. Because of her many activities for social and human rights organizations she discovered that she wants to focus on the intersection of three subjects: religion, human rights and peace. Lisanne works on the Research and Action Program Of The Hague Peace Projects.
Trony Ingati, Co-creator, Operations
Trony Ingati is a multifaceted co-worker. She has a BA. in Communications from Daystar University, Kenya and an MA. in International Relations from Webster University, Leiden- Netherlands. She has years of experience as a broadcast and print reporter, journalist, entrepreneur and strategist. Her role at the Hague Peace Projects is to co-create and charter present and future possibilities for the organization and its staff. She can be found hovering round her Hague Peace Projects hatchery, which she handles with uttermost care!
Tayfun Balcik, Project coordinator
Tayfun Balcik is a historian, specialized in the modern history of Turkey. He wrote his thesis
about the Armenian Genocide. In media outloutlets like Frontaal Naakt, Joop and Nieuw Wij he writes about history, multiculturalism and ethnic conflicts. In HPP he coordinates the Turkish-Kurdish program. In his free time he likes to drink tea.
Astrid Frey, Management advisor
Astrid has a MA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Leiden. She has long experience in the sector of development cooperation where she worked for Cordaid in different capacities for programs on gender, human rights and strenghtening of civil society organisations in countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti and Indonesia. Astrid likes to connect people, to look at issues from different perspectives, and wants put words into action.
Shalene Datta, South Asia Project Coordinator
Shalene has obtained an MSc in Security Studies from University College London. She has experience in security, counter-terrorism politics and human rights analysis. She has trained with the European Parliament in the Directorate General for External Policies, where she has written numerous policy papers on the region of South Asia. Additionally she has worked for several NGO’s in the United Kingdom, Netherlands and India. Shalene co-ordinates the HPP South Asian working group and is also currently working on a HPP research project.
Déogratias Irambona, Great lakes Region working group co-coordinator
As a political activist Déo joined The Hague Peace Projects recently. He works as the co-coordinator of the Great Lakes Region working group. His country of origin is Burundi.
Kristen Beekhuis, Communication and Design
Kristen works freelance in communications and design and gained experience in these fields and in fundraising, marketing, and public relations while working for various charitable organizations in Canada. In HPP she works as a Designer. In her spare time, she can be found searching for the best cappuccino in Zuid-Holland.
Miriam Reinhardt, Blogger
Miriam is a German student, who lives for one year in The Hague and wants to be socially active. Therefore, she has chosen the field of human rights. She does several interviews with HPP members to give them a voice and share their opinions. Furthermore, she was involved in several events to write reviews and support the working groups. Some pieces of her work is presented on the website of HPP.
Sam Maat, External Affairs Officer
Sam has graduated in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in international relations and conflict studies. She has both practical and research experience with international non-profit organizations, gained from traineeships with INGOs as well as presiding over the student association for conflict studies and human rights in Utrecht. Sam works as an external affairs officer for The Hague Peace Projects.
Moses Atocon, Great Lakes Region working group coordinator
Moses is a Ugandan Digital Political Media Activist and the coordinator of the Great Lakes Region working group of The Hague Peace Projects. Until 2005 he studied at the University and Business School Kampala Uganda and at the Open University London. Afterwards topics like human rights, politics and poverty alleviation became more and more important for him.
Anneke Verbraeken, Ambassador
Anneke is an independent journalist with extensive experience in the Great Lake Region in Central Africa. She has written many articles about the conflict in that area for a host of quality magazines and newspapers. At the end of 2014 she will publish a book about Rwandan activist and president candidate Victoire Ingabire. The board and staff members are grateful to Anneke for being an ambassador for the Hague Peace Projects.
Jagoda Paukovic, Ambassador
Jagoda Paukovic is a political sociologist and a ISS alumna. The last two decades Jagoda has been working in various conflict regions, mostly in the Region of the Great Lakes and the Caucasus. The work contained conflict analysis with the local partners, policy formulation and implementation of development and human rights programs, module designs for training of trainers in the fields of good governance, citizens participation, cooperation between civil society and local authorities, gender and intercultural communication. Currently she is a freelance consultant and lives in Antwerp, Belgium.
